Zourabichvili: Georgia’s fall under Russian control would also affect Armenia’s European future

If Georgia falls under Russian control, it will affect everything from Black Sea security to Armenia’s European future, Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili said in a speech at the European Parliament.

Zourabichvili noted that the stakes would be very high in such a scenario.

“What is happening in Georgia is connected not only to its democracy and political elections but also to Europe and its strategic interests,” she said.

She called on Europe and the West to provide strong political support for democratic voices in Georgia, advocate for justice, the release of political prisoners, and decisively support calls for new parliamentary elections.

“Europe has so far only partially responded to the challenge. It is slow to wake up and slow to respond. Much more could and should be done,” Zourabichvili stated.
