Earthquake hits Azerbaijan also felt in Tavush Province
The Seismic Protection Territorial Service of the RA
Ministry of Internal Affairs reports that at 8:15 a.m. local time (at 4:15 a.m.
GMT), an earthquake happened 61 km north of the city of Sumgait in Azerbaijan.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 18 kilometers and measured 5.6 on the
Richter scale.
As reported, at the epicenter, tremors measured seven to
eight on the Richter scale.
The earthquake was also felt in the towns of Noyemberyan,
Ijevan, Dilijan and Berd of Tavush Province, as well as in Achajur village,
registering a magnitude of three.
