One of Azerbaijanis who crossed into Armenia is sentenced to 11 years, 6 months in prison

One of the two Azerbaijani servicemen who crossed the border into Armenia, Aghshin Babirov, was sentenced to 11 years, 6 months and 15 days in prison, the RA General Prosecutor’s Office confirmed.

The Azerbaijani serviceman was found guilty of illegal border crossing and smuggling firearms and ammunition across the border. He had pleaded guilty.

The case of the second Azerbaijani serviceman who crossed the border with Babirov is still under criminal investigation. He is also charged with the murder of a guard at the Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine.
