‘Let him do so truthfully’: Pope Leo to Trump

Pope Leo has responded to criticism directed at him by US President Donald Trump, according to Vatican News.

“The mission of the Church is to proclaim the Gospel, to preach peace,” he said. “If someone wants to criticize me for proclaiming the Gospel, let him do so truthfully.”

He also expressed hope that his message would be heard.

On April 12, Pope Leo called on the United States to halt military actions in Iran and to seek a peaceful resolution to the conflict. He stated that war is fueled by the illusion of omnipotence.

In response, Trump stated that the Pope would not be in the Vatican without the involvement of the United States.
