Russia’s army begins nuclear drills

The Russian armed forces have begun drills focused on the preparation and use of nuclear forces under conditions of aggression, RBK reports, citing Russia’s defense ministry.

According to the report, the exercises involve around 64,000 military personnel.

The drills will continue until May 21. More than 7,800 pieces of military equipment are involved, including over 140 aircraft, 73 ships, and 13 submarines.

The exercises also include the launch of ballistic and cruise missiles at Russian test ranges.

The drills will cover issues related to the joint preparation and potential use of nuclear weapons stationed in Belarus.
