Genesis Armenia discusses regional strategic challenges with Iranian ambassador

On May 20, the Genesis Armenia think tank/foundation hosted the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia, Khalil Shirgholami, the foundation said in a statement.

The discussions focused on the security situation in the South Caucasus, regional developments, tensions surrounding Iran, as well as geopolitical pressures facing both Armenia and Iran.

The participants also emphasized the importance of the historical, cultural, and ideological ties between the two nations.

Genesis Armenia Director Abraham Gasparyan and Ambassador Shirgholami stated that Armenia and Iran are currently facing a number of common challenges, making it increasingly important to develop a joint and coordinated agenda between the two friendly and naturally allied states.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of preserving national identity, national values, and societal resilience amid the multiple crises facing the modern world.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides reaffirmed their readiness to expand cooperation. New contacts and joint initiatives are expected to be launched between Genesis Armenia and leading Iranian analytical centers, the statement said.
