Aircraft carrying British defense secretary lost GPS signal near Russian border

A Royal Air Force aircraft transporting UK Defense Secretary John Healey was forced to switch to an alternative navigation system last week after losing GPS signal during a three-hour flight, the BBC reports.

The signal was reportedly jammed while Healey was returning from Estonia, where he had visited British troops stationed near the Russian border.

According to British media reports, Russia is believed to be behind the incident.

Russian authorities have not yet commented on the matter.

An anonymous source from the UK Ministry of Defense stated: “This was reckless interference by Russia, but the Royal Air Force is well prepared to deal with this kind of activity.”
