Zakharova says US doesn’t consider Armenia’s interests when Signing agreements with Yerevan

The United States does not treat Armenia as an equal partner, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told RIA Novosti.

At the end of May, Armenia and the United States signed a package of documents, including a charter on comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Zakharova noted that none of the signed documents constitutes an international treaty and therefore does not create any specific obligations for the parties.

“Let us ask the question: is this how an equal partner is treated? Of course not. When it comes to equality… it is not limited to declarations, statements, promises, and oaths. It is actually about formalizing relations in international treaties,” Zakharova said.

According to her, the United States does not take Armenia’s interests into account when signing agreements with Yerevan.

“They always think about the interests of the United States of America,” she added.
