Ukraine appoints new commander-in-chief of armed forces

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed Mykhailo Drapatyi as the new commander-in-chief of the country’s armed forces, according to Ukrainska Pravda.

“Oleksandr Syrskyi secured Ukraine’s success in the defense of Kyiv, the Kharkiv offensive, and the Kursk operation. Significant progress has been made, but the defense continues, and we must move forward with new approaches,” Zelensky said.

In a video address, the Ukrainian president also announced that, together with Mykhailo Drapatyi, Yevhen Khmara, and Pavlo Palisa, the new General Staff of the armed forces has already been finalized.
