Pakistan’s ambassador to Russia says strengthening ties with Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan is important

Pakistan’s ambassador to Russia says strengthening ties with Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan is important

Pakistan attaches great importance to strengthening its ties with Moscow, Yerevan and Baku, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, said in an interview with TASS.

Commenting on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Pakistan amid efforts to normalize ties between Yerevan and Baku, as well as the appointment of Armenia’s first ambassador to Pakistan, the diplomat said that “Armenia, Azerbaijan and the Caucasus have much in common with Pakistan.”

“For many years, we did not have diplomatic relations with Armenia, and I am very pleased that recent developments have highlighted the need to establish normal relations with Armenia,” Tirmizi said.

“I see tremendous potential for developing relations between Pakistan, Armenia and the Caucasus region as a whole,” he added.

The ambassador also spoke about the Armenian community in Pakistan, noting that although few people are aware of it, one of the recipients of the country’s highest military honor is of Armenian descent.

“I have had the honor of visiting many countries and regions in this part of the world. We have historical ties with the Caucasus, and Armenia is a very important part of them. I can see that people-to-people contacts and business ties between Armenia and Pakistan are now developing,” he said.
