Peskov: Iran has no plans to develop nuclear weapons

Russian friends and partners in Iran confirm that Tehran has no ongoing work or plans to develop nuclear weapons and remains committed to its non-proliferation obligations, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

“Our friends and partners consistently confirm at various levels that no work on developing nuclear weapons is being conducted in Iran and that there are no plans to create such weapons. Iran is committed to its obligations under the non-proliferation regime,” he told reporters.

The Russian presidential spokesman added that, according to Russian partners, Iran remains committed to its goal of developing a peaceful nuclear energy sector within the country.
