US makes air strikes on Iranian forces in Syria
The U.S. has announced that it has made air strikes in the
southeastern regions of Syria, on the Iranian forces stationed near the border
with Iraq.
As the BBC reports, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin
said the strikes were made on the facilities used by the Islamic Revolutionary
Guard Corps and Iran-affiliated armed groups positioned along the Euphrates
valley.
Austin stated that thereby they tried to ensure the safety
of the U.S. servicemen, and the attacks were carried out in retaliation for the
rocket strikes on the U.S. military bases in the region.
