Georgia and Russia restoring diplomatic relations
The governments of Georgia and Russia are actively working to restore diplomatic relations and open a Georgian embassy in Moscow, Georgian Opposition TV channel Mtavari Arkhi reported, referring to its source.
“According to the source, the ruling Georgian Dream party and the leadership of Russia are actively working and negotiating on the restoration of diplomatic relations, and the recruitment of employees has already begun,” the TV channel says.
There are no diplomatic relations between Russia and Georgia. The relations between the two countries were severed by the Georgian side after Moscow recognized the sovereignty of Abkhazia and South Ossetia on August 26, 2008. Tbilisi does not recognize the sovereignty of these republics, considering them occupied territories.
