A
meeting was held between the heads of European diplomatic missions accredited
to Azerbaijan. During the meeting, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov
also discussed the possibility of normalization of relations with Armenia and
that of promotion of the peace process, the press service of the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan reports.
According to the ministry press release, Bayramov noted that after the
conclusion of the November 9 tripartite statement, Azerbaijan had many times
raised the issue of the presence of illegal Armenian armed groups in its
sovereign territory.
He underscored the importance of the “lawful anti-terrorist measures” taken by
Azerbaijan on Sept. 19–20 with the aim of establishing peace and stability in
the region.
“The foreign minister noted that a historic opportunity for peace has arisen in
the region,” reads the press release.
