Iran president says Armenia-Iran relations should develop free from external interference

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has received Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan, who traveled to Tehran to attend the funeral ceremonies for Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Mehr writes.

Pezeshkian thanked the Armenian authorities and the Armenian people for their condolences. He said the gesture reflected the historic friendship and mutual respect between the two countries.

The Iranian president also stated that Armenia-Iran relations should develop free from external interference, based on the independent will of both countries. He expressed hope that negotiations on a comprehensive bilateral cooperation agreement would be concluded soon, creating new opportunities for cooperation in transport, transit, trade, and the economy.
