Armenia’s deputy foreign minister: Armenia must defend its territorial integrity with all the means at its disposal
Armenia remains constructively engaged in negotiations, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan told reporters.
With regard to statements from Azerbaijan, Kostanyan noted that they are aimed at ensuring a situation of escalation exists in the region.
“The Republic of Armenia will not succumb to such provocations, and we will continue to maintain a constructive approach in the negotiation process. Of course, the Republic of Armenia must defend its territorial integrity with all the means at its disposal, both diplomatic and not only,” Kostanyan said.
When asked whether territorial integrity should also be defended through military means, the deputy minister said: “The Republic of Armenia is exercising its sovereign right and developing its defense capabilities. As previously stated, we have no intentions to carry out offensive actions against any of our neighbors. Regarding the so-called arms race that we are witnessing in the region, Armenia has proposed that a mutual arms control mechanism be established, and this proposal stands on our part.”
