Project Freedom to be temporarily paused, Trump says
US President Donald Trump has announced that the operation to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, known as Project Freedom, will be temporarily suspended to assess the possibility of finalizing and signing a comprehensive agreement with Iran.
Trump stated that the blockade will remain in force.
“We have mutually agreed that, while the Blockade will remain in full force and effect, Project Freedom (The Movement of Ships through the Strait of Hormuz) will be paused for a short period of time to see whether or not the Agreement can be finalized and signed,” Trump wrote.
According to him, the decision to pause the project was made at the request of Pakistan and other countries acting as mediators in the negotiations.
