Trump says Xi Jinping offered assistance on Iran

Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed a desire to see an agreement on the situation surrounding Iran and has offered to help resolve the conflict, US President Donald Trump said in an interview with Fox News.

“President Xi [Jinping] would like to see an agreement. He really would like to see an agreement, and he offered help, saying: ‘If there’s anything I can do to help, I would like to help.’ He really said that,” Trump noted.

According to the US president, the Chinese leader also supports the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

“Anyone who buys that much oil clearly has some relationship with Iran. He would like to see the opening of the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump added.
