Turkologist: Turkey is threatening Armenia with another war, wanting to make it its “proxy”
A meeting between the former Turkish Minister of National Defense and an MP of the Turkish Parliament, Hulusi Akar, and Ilham Aliyev took place in Azerbaijan. The Turkish MP stated at the meeting that Armenia needs to take the hand of peace extended by Azerbaijan as soon as possible. Akar noted that some countries somehow want to dress Armenia in the uniform of a “proxy state”, and if Armenia follows this course, it may suffer big losses, as in the case of the 44-day war.
Referring to the Turkish MP’s statement, Turkologist Gevorg Galtakyan told ABC media that hereby Turkey exerts diplomatic pressure on Armenia.
“First, I would like to note that the “hand of peace”, which Erdogan first referred to, is nothing short of diplomatic pressure on Armenia and a move to impose the Turkish agenda on Armenia. This, of course, is accompanied by threats, which are, in fact, a classic example of geopolitical blackmail,” the Turkologist said.
Reading between the lines, Galtakyan says this statement poses certain threats to Armenia.
“As for the course of a “proxy state”, it is obvious that with this statement they are promoting their agenda of completely subjugating Armenia and, especially, breaking Russia’s hold in the South Caucasus. In short, the Turkish regime itself wants to make Armenia its proxy, once again threatening that otherwise Armenia will pay a heavy price — in a word, with a war. Perhaps the only positive thing is that there are counterweights against the Turkish dream of the Zangezur corridor, and that counterweight is, firstly, an Armenian fighter with its — let it be — small number of allies,” the specialist noted.
The Turkish MP talked about the Zangezur corridor, noting that it is what Armenia needs. Akar said they are waiting for the agreement between the parties on this matter.
