Russian border guards will maintain their presence in Armenia, Alexander Bortnikov, a candidate for the head of the Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB), said.
Bortnikov noted that the Russian border guards will protect Armenia’s border with Turkey and Iran.
According to Bortnikov, Yerevan asked Moscow to withdraw the temporary operational groups of Russian border guards from the border delimitation area, and such a decision was made. In addition, at the request of the Armenian side, the border crossing at Yerevan’s Zvartnots Airport will also be closed.
