Kazakhstan to increase uranium supplies to Europe via Azerbaijan
Kazakhstan plans to increase uranium supplies to Europe through the territory of Azerbaijan.
As a route. Kazatomprom considers the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, passing through the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
Previously, Kazakh uranium was supplied to Europe through the port of Saint Petersburg. Due to anti-Russian sanctions, Astana is looking for an alternative route. Last year, the transit of Kazakh uranium through the territory of Azerbaijan increased by almost 15%, reaching 2.3 thousand tons. More than 60% of Kazakhstan’s uranium supplies to the Western market are made through the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
