Lavrov-Rubio contacts possible, Russia’s deputy FM says
Moscow and Washington are maintaining highly intensive contacts, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov has said.
“Contacts with the Americans at the high, administrative level are very intensive and ongoing; we are now in a situation where there are many channels of dialogue,” Ryabkov said.
The deputy minister also did not rule out the possibility of new contacts between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, while noting that no timetable has been agreed.
“When the need arises, we hold discussions; I do not rule out that new contacts may take place in the near future,” he added.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that presidential aide Yury Ushakov is in contact with US Envoy Steve Witkoff, but there are still no concrete plans regarding a possible visit to Russia.
