Raúl Castro could face fate similar to Nicolás Maduro, US official says
In an interview with Fox News, Acting US Attorney General Todd Blanche expressed readiness to do everything possible to ensure that one of the leaders of the Cuban Revolution, army general Raúl Castro, is prosecuted in the United States.
“We need Castro here, and he needs to stand trial. We will do everything to bring him here,” he said.
Blanche referenced the case of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, describing a US operation involving his capture as an “extreme example.”
“Usually, we do this through extradition and cooperation with international partners,” the official added.
The US Department of Justice has previously charged Castro with involvement in the killing of four people, the destruction of two aircraft, and an attempt to kill US citizens.
