Israel comes up with hostage release and truce plan

Director of Israel’s Mossad David Barnea has proposed a plan to the country’s war cabinet, suggesting a 35-day truce to Palestinian Hamas in exchange for the release of 35 Israeli hostages, Israel’s Channel 12 reports.

The potential hostage release deal will go through stages. The first stage suggests the release of women and the elderly, as well as the sick and the wounded. The truce could be extended for another week for the talks over the second stage of hostage release to be possible.  The second stage may suggest the release of the civil defense personnel and men whom Hamas views as fighters.

According to Channel 12, there are a total of 136 hostages.
