NATO’s new secretary general: It is rather difficult to predict when Ukraine will become a member of the alliance

It is difficult for NATO to predict when Ukraine’s membership in the alliance will be possible; we need to follow the developments, Mark Rutte, the newly appointed secretary general of NATO, said in his first press conference held at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels.

Rutte explained what Ukraine’s membership in the alliance depends on. According to him, in this regard, there are several factors, one of which is the outcome of the war.

“We need to follow all the developments of the coming six months or one or two years. I support the continuation of the aid program to Ukraine. Both the U.S. and Europe understand that if Vladimir Putin achieves his goals, this will worsen the security situation for the alliance,” the alliance’s newly appointed secretary general said.
