Clergymen arrested and searches conducted in Aragatsotn Diocese

Bishop Mkrtich Proshyan, Primate of the Diocese of Aragatsotn, has been arrested, Father Yesayi Artenyan told ABC media.

As reported earlier, Father Parren Arakelyan, the spiritual leader of Saghmosavank Monastery, has also been arrested.

Searches were carried out at the homes of Bishop Mkrtich Proshyan and other clerics of the diocese.

“Several employees and priests of the Diocese of Aragatsotn have been arrested; searches were conducted at the diocese offices and their homes,” attorney Ara Zohrabyan told ABC media.

No further details have been released at this time.
