Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova again talked about the accusations that Yerevan levels at Russia. On air on Zvezda TV channel, she said those accusations were lies, noting that it was Yerevan that abandoned Artsakh.
“Let me remind you what happened to Karabakh. At the beginning, under pressure from NATO and the EU —we can say directly under the influence of Washington— with the help of the countries that are the friends of Armenia, they worked toward the break of connection between Yerevan and Karabakh, which they did themselves. Afterward, the people of Karabakh, who had been let down, started to ask Yerevan questions: Their rights were not protected by any document signed under pressure from NATO? In response, official Yerevan said that Russia and the CSTO were to blame for the entire situation. They keep saying that only we, Russia and the CSTO, are to blame, but that is not the case; that is a lie; in fact, I accuse everyone who says that it was Russia and the CSTO who are to blame for Yerevan’s decisions regarding Karabakh,” Zakharova noted.
