The proposal of the U.S. and its partners on the ceasefire on the border between Israel and Lebanon may be accepted in the next few hours, The New York Times reports, citing officials.

Earlier, the U.S., the EU and the UAE, Saudi Arabia and others called for an immediate 21-day ceasefire on the Israeli-Lebanese border. The statement was signed by the U.S., Australia, Canada, the EU, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar.

They called for a diplomatic settlement that would allow civilians on both sides of the border to return to their homes. The parties called on Israel and Lebanon to establish an immediate ceasefire, promising support to end the crisis.
