Trump instructed to redu US exercises with South Korea due to “very good” relations with Kim Jong-un
The US President Donald Trump said he had instructed Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to “substantially reduce” the US-South Korea Joint Military Exercises program.
‘’Based on my very good relationship with Kim Jong Un, of North Korea, I am not happy with the fact that the United States has, long ago, agreed to participate in Joint Military Exercises with South Korea’’, Trump wrote on the social network Truth Social.
According to him, these exercises are not only ‘’costly’’, but send a signal that is totally inappropriate and hostile, to a Country that, as long as Donald J. Trump has been President, has been unthreatening and respectful. ‘’Therefore, and based on the fact that it is too late to cancel, I have instructed Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to substantially reduce the Joint Military Exercises!’’.
He also added that he asked the President of South Korea if they would like to join us in the ‘’Denuclearization’’ of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and they said, “No thanks!”.
The United States and South Korea regularly conduct joint military exercises, and South Korea is home to the largest American military base abroad, Camp Humphreys. New joint US-South Korean exercises are scheduled to begin on Monday, August 17, and will last 10 days. Thousands of troops and military equipment should participate. The exercises were intended to enhance preparedness to counter North Korean threats and included training in countering drones, GPS jamming, and cyberattacks.
