Tavush residents do not need the compensation the government offers; They prefer the Armenian land: Deutsche Welle’s report from Tavush

Deutsche Welle’s correspondent Fanny Facsar visited Tavush, where protests have been taking place against the border delimitation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan and against the cession of four villages to Azerbaijan. In a report titled “Armenians fear plan to return land to Azerbaijan”, the journalist talked with residents living in the border areas, covering their fears and positions. One of the residents, H. Tamrazyan, noted that life there is hard, but her land is fertile. She is afraid that due to the new border line, her home may be left in the territory of Azerbaijan. The government has promised to compensate them, but that is not what she wants. “This is my Armenian land, where I want to live,” Tamrazyan said. According to the journalist, the locals are afraid of losing their native land in the name of peace. “This border delimitation brings the old enemy, Azerbaijan, closer to them, and they are afraid that Baku will demand more. Further clashes seem real,” says the report.
