Lavrov: The task of the West is to push Russia out of the region, and not to bring about peace in Armenia

Western countries do not strive to establish peace and stability in Armenia and the entire South Caucasus; their task is to push Moscow out. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said this to TASS.

“Armenia is now facing a number of challenges; Moreover, these challenges cannot be met with the help of Western players. Unlike Russia, the U.S. and the EU, do not seek to establish peace and stability in the republic and the South Caucasus,” the Russian foreign minister said.

He noted that the task of the West is rather different: to push Moscow and other regional powers out and to create a new hotbed of tension after the Balkans, the Middle East and Ukraine.

At the same time, as Lavrov noted, “the way out of the difficult situation is obvious: to implement the tripartite agreements between Yerevan, Baku and Moscow at the highest level”.
